When is the best time to take the PSI electrical exam?

PSI electrical exam

Guys ask me all the time,

“When is the best time to take the PSI electrical exam after taking the class?”

The answer used to be about five days to go over the handouts from the class and to read a few important articles of the code book.

In the class we give you a list of articles you MUST read. After the class you get homework. You’ll need to spend time daily for practice.

Ideally you should dedicate 1 hour a day or night.
Then after those 5 days, the longest you want to wait is about 14 to 21 days. Three weeks is kind of stretching it. If you wait longer than that you risk forgetting some of the things covered in the class.

If you think you’ll forget sooner, then push for no longer than ten days.

What if I already scheduled my PSI electrical exam?

If you've already scheduled the PSI electrical exam, don't worry about it. Worst case, you go in there and see the exam.

The PSI electrical exam fee is 78 dollars. So if you don’t pass the first time it might actually be good in some ways. If you can afford the $78 that is.

  • You will have this class
  • You're going to have the actual content right behind it
  • Some of the things that we talked about are gonna click
  • When you go home and start studying it's gonna make a lot more sense

What is the fastest I should take PSI electrical exam?

If you want to reschedule or just schedule the exam, the ten days will give you enough time.

In ten days you should have:

  • Gone through your calculation stuff
  • Read important code articles
  • Complete the homework guide
  • Dedicate a day or so on working in your book
The only way to work in your book is to just physically go in it and make your highlights, write your notes and steps down.

In short, you’ll be safe if you take the exam between 10 to 21 days but you're gonna have to devote actual time to your homework. No goofing off.

Electrician Candidate Information Bulletin

Good Morning, Today we received a call from someone asking us the phone number to the PSI so they can change their appointment.  While we don't do the actual exams here, we are more than happy to help :)  We put together a cheat blog with the link to the ECIB , Table of Contents, FAQ's, and some shameless marketing for our seminars and books.  (I'd be a terrible business person if I didn't add a couple of sales links ;) Feel free to share this page with any Texas electrician preparing for their exam. This will come in handy. The Electrical Candidate Information Bulletin can be found here .  You may download and save it, print it or just read it online. Make sure to bookmark this link so you can refer to it during your studies.
